Our History

The Shipbuilders Council of America was created to support the commercial and military maritime industry.

Built on the foundation of commitment to homeland security, national security, and economic security, SCA represents mid-sized to large shipyards that have built naval vessels, submarines, cargo ships, passenger ships, and other commercial ships throughout our history and continues this work today. Shipyards throughout the country carry on the legacy of superior shipbuilding, repair, maintenance, and modernization.

The U.S. is a maritime nation, and as such, has been founded to prioritize national and economic security through the naval and commercial maritime industry.
